This hardware dealer marked tools succeeded the Shapleigh & Cantell Hdw. Co. and was succeeded by the Norvell-Shapleigh Hdw. Co. in 1913, that company changed its name to the Shapleigh Hdware Co without the A.F. All of those companies, and earlier ones, used the brand name DIAMOND EDGE; this company also used BRIDGE TOOL CO. as a brand name, but that was primarilyu used later by successors. An Est. 1843 date refers to an earlier company. (information obtained from Directory of American Tool Makers)
